2026 WFADS African championship in Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll and Acro Swing to be held in Dakar.

On March 14, 2026, the African Championship in Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll and Acro Swing will take place at the Blaise Senghor Cultural Center in Dakar, Republic of Senegal, under the auspices of the World Federation of Acrobatic Dances and Dance Sports (WFADS) and the Senegalese Rock’n’Roll Association (Sacré-Cœur, Dakar).

The competition will become the first official international event of 2026 in these disciplines and will be held in a new format - as a “closed” continental championship featuring athletes exclusively from African countries. Unlike the 2025 World Cup, the Dakar competition will introduce new disciplines to the program: Rock’n’Roll M Class Adults and Rock’n’Roll Formation Women.

Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll is a dynamic sport that combines dance and elements of acrobatics. During the championship, athletes will demonstrate their skills in four disciplines:

Rock'n'Roll M Class Adults is the most complex and spectacular discipline featuring high-level aerial acrobatics;

Rock'n'Roll B Class Adults is a dance program combined with semi-acrobatic elements;

Rock'n'Roll Formation Women is a synchronized dance performance presented by a group of female athletes;

Acro Swing Adults is a modern discipline combining elements of Rock’n’Roll, Boogie-Woogie, Lindy Hop, Balboa and Shag, including acrobatic elements that enhance the expressiveness of the performance.

As part of the championship, a four-day training camp in Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll and Acro Swing will also take place with the support of WFADS. For the first time, couples from Lesotho and Liberia will join a structured training program led by leading international coaches. This initiative marks an important step in the development of these disciplines on the African continent.
WFADS views the African Championship in Dakar as an important milestone in strengthening international cooperation, expanding the geographical reach of Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll and Acro Swing, and raising the level of sporting excellence among athletes in the region.
